How many of us have been in the boat and our guest ask us..."is that fish....is that trees...what is that?"....we all have. As a guide and Pro Staff member of the Lowrance team I get asked these questions all of the time. Because I look at the sonar screen hours at a time I have always felt that I knew what I am looking at 90% of the time. There was that 10% that I had no idea what it was that showed up on my screen. Enter the Lowrance LSS or Structure Scan with the ability to show Down Scan. Now I know 100% of the time what I am seeing under my boat. Note what you might think is fish but is really bubbles.

Not only do I know what I am seeing but I have the ability using the HDS (Structure Scan only works with the HDS) to see and mark on any page a way point so I can go back to the exact spot where I saw the structure at any time. There have been many times where I hooked up on a nice striper (or 2) and once the fish was in the boat I was able to "back up" my sonar to the point where I saw the fish and mark the structure that was holding the fish so I could return to catch more. The New HDS with the accompanied Structure Scan is the best tool a fisherman can have after the hook. As you can see from the "screen captures" the process of seeing and catching then the ability to mark and return to the same spot is a big advantage. Please note that I am running the HDS 10 and it is only the HDS 10 and HDS 8 that have the ability to quad screen (and soft keys). The HDS 5 and HDS 7 only have the ability to duplex but other than that and the fact they do not have the soft keys can do everything that the two bigger units can. Combine these 2 components with a Navionics chart and you are on your way to catching more fish with out a doubt.
